From the start, pop diva Mariah Carey wanted to be involved in the upcoming season of 'The X Factor,' and now it looks like Simon Cowell is officially making it happen.

According to People, the singer will appear as a "guest of a judge," namely Cowell, who recently revealed Carey's wishes to be a part of the competition series.

Earlier this month, the producer said, "You can't say no to Mariah. We have to find a role for her. I'm a huge fan of hers – not just as an artist, but as a person, and I love her to death."

Whether Carey's input will be taken into account on the judges' panel remains to be seen, and her appearance in the 'X Factor' studio has yet to be confirmed. However, a source says: "She is confirmed to tape something with Simon Cowell at the judge’s homes."

After a bit of controversy surrounding the choice to replace Cheryl Cole with Nicole Scherzinger as a judge on the show, it looks like things are shaping up. With the premiere just one month away, we're expecting smooth sailing (and hopefully more exciting guest appearances) from here on out. 'X Factor' makes its debut on Sept. 21 on FOX.
