Miley Cyrus Calls Herself a ‘Stoner’ in Birthday Video
Tsk tsk. Some people never learn, and it looks like the lovely and talented Miley Cyrus may be one of them. The teen took plenty of media hits, not to mention one to her squeaky clean image, last year after a video of her smoking a substance from a bong went viral. Cyrus apologized and said she was smoking salvia, which is a plant in the mint family. She claimed she felt horrible for letting her largely teen fanbase down.
Turns out that Miley used more bad judgment, this time courtesy of her words.
At party at Los Angeles' Roosevelt Hotel celebrating her 19th birthday –- the big day was Nov. 23 -- Cyrus referred herself to as a "stoner."
The video, leaked by The Daily, is 40 seconds long and starts out with Miley and friends singing 50 Cent's 'In Da Club.' You know, that whole "We gonna party like it's your birthday" line is lyrically appropriate. There's a person in a panda suit behind Miss Miley and Kelly Osbourne to her side. Regular birthday fun, right?
When Miley addressed the crowd, she thanked them for waiting for three hours. She doesn't explain the source of her tardiness. Once the cake was wheeled out, complete with sparklers, Cyrus joked about the confection, saying, "You know you’re a stoner when friends make you a Bob Marley cake. You know you smoke way too much f---in’ weed."
Now, at first, we thought about the context of the statement. Perhaps Cyrus was referring to her friends who made her a Marley cake. But it really doesn't seem that way. Then her friend Osbourne replied, "I thought salvia was your problem."
Miley, Miley, Miley. It doesn't matter if you didn't know someone was filming your words, but just when people had forgotten about the salvia bong and how it tarnished your image, you drag it right back to the forefront of our minds. You have to watch what you say when you're a public figure.
It's also worth a mention that a photo of Cyrus smoking surfaced in August. Surprisingly, there wasn't much backlash from fans about that photo, nor was it heavily addressed in the media.
We're anticipating some sort of media frenzy and/or apology from Cyrus over her comments.
