The 2012 installment of the Billboard Music Awards have selected Emmy-winning tv stars Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell of 'Modern Family' to host the  awards ceremony, which airs live from Las Vegas on Sunday, May 20 at 8PM ET on ABC.

"We are thrilled to have television’s favorite Emmy Award-winning couple as our hosts for this year’s Billboard Music Awards," said Prometheus Global Media CEO Richard D. Beckman in a statement. "Ty and Julie have captured the hearts of America with their on-screen chemistry and humor -- and we look forward to having them bring that magic to the Billboard Music Awards."

In 2011, the Billboard Music Awards returned from a 4-year hiatus with 'Community' actor Ken Jeong as host. Eminem and Justin Bieber each nabbed six awards. This year, Adele leads the pack as a finalist in a whopping 18 categories. LMFAO are up for 17 awards, and Rihanna has 13 nominations.

Bieber, LMFAO, the Wanted and Carrie Underwood have already signed on as performers for the 2012 shindig, with many more acts still to be announced. The nominees for Top Artist are Adele, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, Katy Perry, and Rihanna.
