It was the end of the road for songbirds Naima Adedapo and Thia Megia on tonight's 'American Idol.' Raspy-throated vocalist Paul McDonald was also in the bottom three, but ultimately ranked ahead of Adedapo and Megia and extended his stay by at least another week.

We think McDonald is going to be a late bloomer and show us something special as the rounds wind down! However, the ladies, both of whom were consistently in the bottom of the voting, won't get that chance. They were part of an unusual double exit caused by the fact that the judges used their one and only season save on Casey Abrams last week.

Adedapo's reggae-ification of Elton John's 'I'm Still Standing' was lukewarmly received and despite the singer's colorful free spirit, her 'Idol' journey is over and done with. Megia was taken to task by the judges for playing it safe every week and never showing much of a range beyond her predisposition for ballads. Her version of 'Daniel' was a bit of a snooze and didn't earn the teen enough votes to stay.

Even though Adedapo and Megia won't be crowned Season 10's winner, both ladies brought a lot of heart to the show this year. We'll be hearing from both of them again, some how, some way.

The 'Idol' pool is shrinking. Who will survive and what will be left of them? Tune in next week to find out.
