In between fashion shows, mothering sons Kingston and Zuma, styling 'American Idol' contestants and being a spokeswoman for L'Oreal makeup, superwoman Gwen Stefani revealed some details about No Doubt's forthcoming album. The frontwoman spoke on Ryan Seacrest's radio show about the long-awaited and highly-anticipated new record, which they are aiming to release some time this year.

Stefani admitted that the band has completed 10 songs for the album so far and that they are aiming to record a few more tunes. "The main thing we were trying to do was write really catchy, good songs," Stefani tells Seacrest. All you need to do is scan's No Doubt's catalog, which is full of catchy, good songs; we're sure they haven't lost a step despite their long hiatus.

Stefani continues, "There's a lot of upbeat songs. It's generally a pretty happy record." In addition to a positive mood, Stefani said that she and her bandmates looked to the new wave movement for inspiration, citing Depeche Mode and the Cure as influences. She also said that the band's hallmark elements, like reggae and ska, will also flavor the overall sound of the album. This LP will be the band's first effort since 2001's megawatt 'Rock Steady.'

We're looking forward to seeing what Stefani and her crew come up with for their first platter in over a decade. Stay tuned with PopCrush for more updates on the brand-new No Doubt album and more on Gwen Stefani.
