One day ahead of its official debut, One Direction's brand new single 'Steal My Girl' leaked on the Internet and many fans jokingly blamed (and thanked) Liam Payne for the gift.

'Steal My Girl' was originally supposed to debut on Capital FM, a UK radio station, on Monday Sept. 29 but a recording made its way onto YouTube. The video has since been taken down by Sony.

Directioners pointed fingers at Payne after he tweeted, "My TV is broken" followed by, "Can't sleeep" and then, "Still no luck it's too hot." Moments later, word got out that a recording of the song had made its way onto YouTube.

So was Liam really behind the leak?

We're not sure but Directioners nevertheless took to Twitter to express their thanks and gratitude. On Sunday morning, Sept. 28, the hashtags '#LiamWeKnowItWasYou' and '#ThanksLiamForStealMyGirl' were trending on Twitter.

'Steal My Girl' is the first single off the band's forthcoming album titled 'Four.' The album is set to be released on Nov. 17, 2014.
