If there really is a gospel according to Oprah, we've got some flagrant sinners on our hands.

In a red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight at the Tribeca Film Festival last night (April 20), Oprah implied that ABC handled the announcement of Michael Strahan's new gig at Good Morning America all wrong. Strahan confirmed reports he was leaving Live With Kelly and Michael on yesterday's broadcast, and Kelly Ripa, whom TMZ reports received no prior notice of Strahan's impending departure, skipped filming at the last minute out of frustration.

"Nobody should be blindsided," Oprah says in the clip above. "I don't know who's in charge, but somebody should've said, 'This is gonna happen.' You shouldn't have to read it in the paper. Ever."

And though Oprah had nothing but good things to say about Strahan ("He's like a natural talent," she gushed), she noted his new gig could be a blessing in disguise for Ripa, who should consider flying solo after Strahan leaves in September.

"Maybe, you think, she'd wanna do it by herself?" Oprah wondered. "I had a co-host for a long time and I wanted to do it by myself."

Strahan admitted he's been shocked by the public's aggressive reaction to his switch-up during his farewell announcement yesterday, but insisted he would always keep Live, its fans and Ripa close to his heart.

"I know that the show will continue to be strong because of Kelly," he said. "I consider myself to be a part of this family forever."

Do you agree with Oprah, or is Ripa making mountains out of molehills? Share your thoughts in the comments.
