It's PETA vs. Rihanna. The animal rights organization is hopping mad over one of the singer's recent  choice of attire. RiRi wore an aqua blue top constructed of ostrich feathers while promoting her fragrance Reb'l Fleur in London last month and it was enough to ruffle PETA's feathers.

PETA spokesperson Sandra Smiley spoke to the Daily Star in Britain, saying that RiRi wearing ostrich feathers is akin to thievery. She said, "Rihanna is flaunting stolen property, in this case feathers possibly plucked right off their rightful owner's backs."

This isn't the first time that Rihanna has worn an exotic ensemble that annoied PETA. Smiley continued,"She has shown little regard for foxes, cows and reptiles. Now she’s adding birds to the list of species exploited for her dubious looks. Feathers are often ripped off chickens, geese, ostriches and emus in live plucking. This can result in gaping wounds that are sewn up with a needle and thread without anaesthetic." Ouch. That's enough to make us want to go naked rather than wear fur or feathers.

Still, PETA holds out hope that Rihanna will have a change of heart when it comes to her attire and they even drudged up her famous dust up with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown to drive the point home. "We keep hoping that Rihanna, a victim of violence herself, will learn to open her heart and start empathizing with the suffering of others," Smiley said. Yeah, they went there.

Smiley finished, "That includes the animals who are beaten, gassed, electrocuted and poisoned to be turned into fashion accessories."

When you put it like that, maybe Rihanna will go vegan, at least when it comes to her wardrobe.
