Pippa Middleton on Kim Kardashian’s Paper Magazine Shoot: ‘[It] Did Make Me Pause’

It looks like Kate Middleton’s little sister, Pippa, has some words for Kim Kardashian. In a column she wrote for the Spectator, Pippa mentions the hoopla that once surrounded her own backside — at the Royal Wedding when Pippa nearly upstaged her own sister -- and compares it to the obsession with those Paper magazine photos.

While the reviews for Kim’s shoot have been somewhat mixed (Naya Rivera, for example, is decidedly disapproving), Pippa simply doesn’t get what the big deal is. She wrote: "No year is complete without a bottom story, and the ‘Rear of 2014’ award undoubtedly goes to Kim Kardashian, after her posterior exploded all over the internet last month. I must say that mine — though it has enjoyed fleeting fame — is not comparable.”

She goes on to say that the issue of Kim’s shoot doesn’t necessarily lie with the reality starlet herself, but with America’s overall obsession with butts.

"But the Kim butt story did make me pause," she wrote. "What is it with this American booty culture? It seems to me to be a form of obsession. Kim’s aim, apparently, was to break the internet, but I’m not sure she’s going the right way about it.”

To her credit, Kim has since refused to back down from her decision to shoot the photos, saying: "I felt really positive and really good about myself,” she told PEOPLE. “I love the photos, I did it for me. I hope other people like them.”
