Sarah Jessica Parker: More ‘Sex and the City’ Is ‘A Possibility’
It's been six years since Sex and the City 2 hit theaters and tarnished the show’s legacy, but fans' desire to see the characters reunite onscreen for a new installment of the HBO show has yet to wane. And according to a recent interview with Sarah Jessica Parker, the cast is reportedly open to reviving the series.
“I don’t think any of us have said no,” Parker said via Elle. “I don’t know whether it’s a series or the movie. I think that remains an open question and discussion that will continue until it’s been resolved. I think that’s always a possibility, definitely.”
Original cast member Willie Garson echoed similar thoughts earlier this year, when he told Digital Spy a further continuation of the SATC story wasn’t necessarily out of the question.
"I know that Sarah [Jessica Parker] and Michael had at one point had an idea for a story, but we honestly don't know,” he said. "Anytime we tease anyone with the possibility we're just being cheeky!”
But when asked whether he’d be on board to revive his role as Stanford Blatch to shoot a new film, he said, “I would make a hundred of them."
“I’ll be in a walker with a broken hip! But I would keep going," he continued. "I don’t think any of us would say, 'Absolutely not, I want to leave that part of my life behind me!' I have no idea when or if that were to happen."
Actress Kim Cattrall, who portrayed PR exec Samantha Jones, on the other hand, isn’t so sure Sex and the City is as relevant as it once was.
“I think the climate changed,” Cattrall said in an interview with the Daily Record back in June. “To have four women talking about shopping trips and spending $400 on shoes when people are having trouble putting food on the table? It doesn’t mean we don’t need that but I think the pendulum swung in a different direction.”
“Everyone is doing their own thing and if it was going to happen, it would have happened by now,” she continued, before admitting she wouldn't rule out the idea entirely.
“It could be fun though,” Cattrall said. “To say goodbye completely to Samantha would be pretty hard.”
