A year ago, Scotty McCreery was a kid in Garner, N.C. singing in local competitions and performing in a McDonald's parking lot. Now, he's the 'American Idol' champ and he has signed on to join the 2012 tour of country superstar Brad Paisley.

The 17-year-old confirmed the team-up via Twitter, writing, "So have yall heard the HUGE news! I'm heading out on the road with Brad Paisley in 2012! It's really humbling that somebody like him would invite me to tour w/ him." McCreery had joined Paisley on stage during the CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee's North Carolina concert over the weekend, where Paisley first asked if McCreery was interested in joining him on tour.

Scotty eagerly accepted the invitation, though he knows what he's in for when it comes to Paisley's reputation as a huge jokester on the road. "I just hope i'm ready for any pranks he throws my way.. haha," McCreery tweeted.

As one of country music's biggest stars, Paisley is used to playing large venues, which means McCreery will get to perform his music for thousands of fans every night, as he did on the American Idols Live Tour. The specific dates and venues will be announced at a later date. McCreery's debut album, 'Clear as Day,' hits stores on Oct. 4.
