He's recovered now, but Sean Kingston now says he endured not one, but two open-heart surgeries after his jet ski accident, meaning he may have been in far worse shape than many fans realized.

"A lot of people don't know it was a deeper situation. I had open heart surgery and I had two other surgeries; it was a life-or-death situation," the 'Beautiful Girls' singer told MTV. "They were gonna send me home, but then I had felt a pain in my left chest, and I told my mom. They rushed me and they did a lot of scans on me, [and] they said I couldn't leave."

Kingston described the Memorial Day weekend incident when he rode his jet ski into a bridge:

"I thought I could've made it under the bridge because I went under an hour earlier ... But the tide got high and the water was real high, so I couldn't make it and the bridge just wiped me off. I was going 35-40 miles per hour. The bridge hit me, knocked me out unconscious."

Kingston realizes he's lucky. "I used to sit at home all the time and talk to my homeboy who was on the jet ski with me, Jabar, and be like, 'Man, this was a close call.' God is good. I'm happy to be here. I really could've been in a coffin."

Fortunately, Kingston says he's "100 percent" and is now back to work. He even joined Nicki Minaj on stage last week, and he's looking forward to recording for new boss L.A. Reid.
