'X Factor' host Steve Jones has made a bit of a name for himself in the pop culture sphere for the terse and abrupt way he cuts off the judges when they offer up their reasons behind voting decisions. One would assume that the producers must love that Jones is ruthless in interrupting the judges mid-sentence to keep the live results episodes on time and on track. However, the Mirror reports that Jones, 34, is about to be booted from the show as though he were a contestant!

A source told the U.K. paper that "Steve keeps saying that living in L.A. is a dream come true. He loves the weather and the women, and he loves working on 'X Factor' – it’s just a shame that the U.S. public has not warmed to him."

The source pointed out that Jones has received "terrible reviews from critics when he started and things haven’t got better." The source continued, "There have been mistakes and he just doesn’t seem to have the knack for dealing with contestants ... Executives at Fox have already decided not to renew his contract and so, short of a miracle happening, it is pretty much a done deal that he will not take part next season."

A New York Times critic took a swipe at Jones and dubbed the host "irrelevant," while some fans bristle at what appears to be a disruptive nature when he cuts off the judges from explaining their choices.

The Mirror report suggests Jones Americanized his Welsh accent and that Nicole Scherzinger, who replaced the ousted Cheryl Cole at the judge's table, could take over as host with someone else filling her current role as a judge and mentor. The Scherz was initially slated to be the show's host.

There is more drama behind the scenes than there is on the actual show, it appears. However, an 'X Factor' spokesperson did not confirm the rumors that Jones is on his way out, saying, "No discussions have been had and no decisions will be made about any new contracts until the new year."
