Haven't heard of the new Oxygen series, 'The Glee Project?' Better listen up if you're a 'Glee' fan, because one of the project's contestants will end up with a seven-episode spot acting on the hit FOX show at the end of the competition!

Here's how it works: Twelve contestants, who are just normal folks like you and I, will come together this June to compete against one another for a spot on the show. They'll take on "homework assignments" given to them by the 'Glee' creators, which will force them to showcase their singing, acting, and dancing skills in different ways.

"Ultimately, this competition is about inspiring the creators of 'Glee' to write a role for you," executive producer Shauna Minoprio says. "That’s never been done before. That’s what makes this whole thing so intriguing. It’s that magical 'Glee' factor, that you’ve got to want them to pick you and write a seven-episode character role for you. The process of how that comes about is absolutely fascinating."

In order to motivate the contestants, Darren Criss, who plays Blaine on 'Glee,' will appear on the show's premiere episode to mentor the youngsters and guide them towards total 'Glee'-dom.

At the end of the 10-episode competition, one person will be chosen to take a role on Season 3 of 'Glee' -- and if it's a boy, creator Ryan Murphy says he'll be a love interest for Mercedes. If the winner is a girl, PopCrush thinks trouty-mouth Sam needs a new lady in his life.

'The Glee Project' kicks off June 12.
