NBC’s ‘The Voice’ Announces 2011 Summer Tour
Following in the steps of it's singing competition predecessor 'American Idol,' the eight finalists from NBC's 'The Voice' will be embarking on a summer tour, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Beverly McClellan and Frenchie Davis of Team Christina, Nakia and Vicci Martinez of Team Cee Lo, Dia Frampton and Xenia of Team Blake, and Javier Colon and Casey Weston of Team Adam will be hitting the road to perform live this summer.
Sadly, the four A-list recording artists who acted as coaches on the show will not be joining their proteges on the tour due to monetary issues. It will be interesting to see how the ticket sales go without the presence of the celebrity coaches on tour, since their involvement is a key player in the show's success. In its first season, 'The Voice' has become NBC's most profitable non-scripted television show, raking in $2.3 million per episode and $250,000 for 30-second commercial slots.
Although the coaches aren't signed on for the tour, they are still bursting with pride for their team members. "I feel like a proud papa with my two girls @DiaFramps and @X3NIA17 hitting the road this summer for The Voice Live on Tour. Show 'em Love!," Shelton tweeted yesterday. Levine also tweeted (but it was deleted from his page), writing, "LevineTeam members @Javstwtr and @casey_weston are hitting the road in July for #TheVoice Live on Tour. Go check them out. You can thank me later."
In other 'Voice' news, the season finale of the show will air tomorrow night, June 29, on NBC at 8PM EST; and the final four contestants -- Bev, Javier, Vicci and Dia -- will be narrowed down to one winner. NBC has also lined up auditions for season two for next spring, and NBC execs hope to start airing two seasons -- one in the spring and one in the fall -- next year.
