We all know that Trey Songz can sing, but can he act? We'll find out soon enough, as the R&B loverboy will make his big-screen acting debut in the upcoming horror movie 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D.' The Lionsgate flick is a reworking of Tobe Hopper's 1974 classic bloodfest of the same name about a bunch of horny teens who run into a family of cannibals in Texas.

In the horror flick, Songz will play the male lead character and love interest to actress Alexandra Daddario, who had been previously cast. Judging by the photos of Ms. Daddario, we don't think the crooner will have a problem smooching on her in the film. The part is also physically demanding, since Songz has to do battle with the chainsaw-wielding monster Leatherface. Filmmaker John Luessenhop ('Takers') is directing the movie, which was penned by Adam Marcus and Debra Sullivan.

Songz is following in the footsteps of many male singers who previously made the successful jump to the big screen. Among the singers-turned-actors are Usher, Ne-Yo and Chris Brown, who ironically starred in 'Takers.' PopCrush wonders if Luessenhop asked Brown to star in the movie first. If so, why did Breezy decline the role? Hmmm?

Anyway, 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D' is expected make a killing at the box office when it arrives in theaters on October 5, 2012.
