Vanessa Hudgens to Perform During ‘Grease: Live!’ Tonight Following Her Father’s Death
Actress and former Disney star Vanessa Hudgens has spent the last year gearing up for tonight's performance of Grease: Live!, in which she plays brassy, sassy Pink Lady Rizzo. Sadly, there is one person who wont be tuning in to watch the show—her father.
On Saturday January 30, Hudgens' father passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was diagnosed back in 2015 with stage 4 cancer, which the actress revealed during her Breakthrough Performance acceptance speech during the 2015 Industry Dance Awards last August. "I hate cancer with every cell of my being," she declared during her passionate and emotional speech.
Her father Greg's Saturday passing was announced this morning by Hudgens herself, who tweeted, "I am so sad to say that last night my daddy, Greg passed away from stage 4 cancer. Thank you to everyone who kept him in your prayers."
The actress went on to add that as far as Grease: Live! is concerned, the show will go on tonight on Fox as planned. "Tonight, I do the show in his honor," she revealed in a follow-up tweet.
Our thoughts are with the actress during this difficult time.
