Marcus Canty delivered a swoon-worthy rendition of Mary J. Blige's 'I'm Going Down' on 'X Factor' last night (Nov. 9.) You'd never know that the singer was battling through a combined diagnosis of tonsillitis and laryngitis, and it had nothing to do with any sort of magic powers contained within that super sparkly jacket he wore. His performance was quality.  However, if ever there was a wrong time for his throat to have these issues, it's now!

According to Zap2It, the always-charming Canty began to notice symptoms during the rehearsal phase this week. The pain continued and escalated, which forced him to consult a doctor. The Maryland native has been prescribed a healthy dose of antibiotics and it has been suggested that he rest his voice whenever and as often as possible. So, all his fellow 'Factor' contestants and producers needs to "Shhhhh!" the singer if he tries to carry on a conversation.

"At first I was scared," Canty admitted about his throat issues. "I was like, I don't know how I'm going to get through this performance. But when those antibiotics kicked in ... It helped me out. I had to go out there and give it everything I got."

That's exactly what he did with his live show performance.

The results episode airs tonight at 8PM on FOX so we will find out how America felt about Marcus Canty. Hopefully he didn't land in the bottom of the voting heap; we'd hate to make him sing again to earn a "save" from the judges. If he does, it could get dicey, given the condition of his throat.

Get better soon, Marcus.
