Zooey Deschanel Carries Bags to Hide Pregnancy [VIDEO]

Zooey Deschanel wears so many hats: She's a singer in the folk duo She & Him, Katy Perry's doppelganger, she has really beautiful hair. But she's probably best known for playing the role of Jess on the hugely successful television show New Girl. And while she and her character have many things in common, the one thing they don't exactly share is the physical state of being pregnancy.

During an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Zooey opened up about her pregnancy and talked about how tough it is to conceal her growing baby bump. Because Jess isn't pregnant on the show and the writers have no intention of writing that in as a possible storyline, the wardrobe and prop departments have been forced to get creative so as not to show Zooey's pregnancy. She said, "[It] has gotten more and more difficult. We're still shooting and it's getting kind of ridiculous. I've been carrying a lot of bags awkwardly."

Zooey also revealed to Jimmy that she wasn't interested in knowing the gender of her baby, because she and her fiance, Jacob Pechenik, want it to be a surprise. Speaking of surprises, Zooey's engagement to Pechenik was announced just a few months after the couple started dating. They announced the excitement over Zooey's pregnancy to PEOPLE, saying, "Jacob and I are over the moon. We are so excited to meet our little one.”

Her impending wedding to Pechenik will mark a second marriage for Zooey. She was first married to Death Cab for Cutie frontman, Ben Gibbard, in 2009. The couple split in 2011 after two years of marriage.
