Shaken + Stirred: Adele Being Scouted To Pen Next ‘Bond’ Theme
For Queen and Country: Adele is reportedly being scouted to write and record the next James Bond theme song after the massive success of her eponymous effort for 2012's Skyfall.
According to The Mirror, producer Barbara Broccoli has her sights set on Adele to provide the music for the yet-unnamed project, which will be the 25th in the series. The site says Broccoli is "determined" to nail down the singer as the film's featured vocalist.
And Broccoli's eagerness comes as no surprise — Skyfall was the most successful Bond film of all time: It was the first to earn more than $1 billion at the box office (it eventually went on to rake in $1.109 billion) and stands as the highest grossing picture for Sony Pictures worldwide. Adele's "Skyfall" theme also became the first Bond theme song to win an Oscar, and went on to win a BRIT Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Grammy, too.
Broccoli has also reportedly secured Daniel Craig to reprise his role as Bond for the fifth time, though he previously said he'd "rather slash his wrists" than play the part again.
"Craig and Adele together are the winning team, the ultimate choice, the money spinners," a source told the site. "It’s taken time but Daniel has come round and the strong consensus in the Bond offices is that Mr Craig is 007 again. As for Adele, she’s more of an unknown quantity but loved being part of Bond, so the signs are positive."
