Update, 1/4: Chris Brown has denied a woman's claims that he struck her over New Year's weekend, saying, "I don't know this old-lookin' b---tch."

"Obviously someone's trying to get a check or start some sh---t," Brown said in a since-deleted video post, which you can watch over at TMZ. After insisting he can't possibly know her because she is too "old" and "ugly," he cited a separate August 2015 incident involving the woman and singer Jason Derulo, in which the woman claimed Derulo invited her to Vegas but then shut her out of his clubbing adventures. "She probably came to my room and was too ugly to get in," Brown concludes.

TMZ claims Brown plans to countersue his accuser, and he certainly seemed in favor of the idea in an Instagram post Brown shared yesterday (January 3). "And I'm going to be hella rich after all the lawsuits I file from these crazy individuals who keep lying on my name," he wrote. "Time for some of us to grow the f---k up!" Indeed.

Original post: Chris Brown is in hot water once again after allegedly assaulting a woman early Saturday morning (January 2). Brown, who was in Las Vegas for the New Years weekend celebrations and also performed on January 1 at Drai's Beach and Nightclub, reportedly punched a woman in the face after she took a photo of him. According to an 8 News Now report, Brown is suspected in the assault and battery which took place at the Palms Casino Resort at around 10 a.m.

TMZ further reported that the victim, an unidentified woman, had been attending a private party held at Brown's hotel suite, where she was punched in the right eye after she took a photo of him on her phone. Allegedly, she had been able to take her cellphone into the party without his security team noticing, which angered Brown.

The victim called the police after leaving the event, but did not go to the hospital or officially report any other injuries.

Of course, this isn't the first time that Brown has been involved in controversy regarding assault, battery, or violence in general. In 2009, the singer was arrested and charged with felony assault after brutally assaulting his girlfriend at the time, pop artist Rihanna. In 2012, he was famously involved in a club brawl with fellow rapper Drake, and in 2013 he was accused of assaulting a woman at a nightclub in Los Angeles. The same year, he got into trouble for assaulting a group of male fans while taking a photo with their female friends.

And yeah, it may be a new year, but some things just don't change.
