Drake Bell Slams Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande
Drake Bell has never been one to mince words and he's taking shots once again. Just days after appearing at the 2014 Kids' Choice Awards, Bell is once again making criticisms and in addition to taking shots at Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, he's also adding Nickelodeon star and artist Ariana Grande to his list.
In an interview with Buzzfeed, Bell talks about the entitlement of Hollywood's youth and uses Grande as an example. "I don't think a lot of these young people have to work very hard. They're found on YouTube and, boom, thrown into the studio so they think they can get anything they want," he says. "Ariana Grande is a billionaire before she’s been an artist. You have to work to be able to appreciate what you have, and what work did she ever have to do in her life?”
Last year, Bell engaged in a Twitter war with Beliebers and also called Bieber's character into question after his arrest. And while Bell is repulsed by Beliebers' attitudes, he blames Justin himself for their behavior. “I don't understand it. And what’s worse is artists like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber don’t come out and say, ‘I love having you as my fans, but you shouldn't be acting this way.’ They just eat it all up, and I think it’s repulsive.”
Later in the interview, Bell called out Lady Gaga for what he believes is a hypocritical attitude towards her own stance of acceptance. He cited an example of Gaga, who often preaches tolerance and diversity, and her interview on the Howard Stern Show. Stern read on-air hateful tweets from Gaga fans aimed towards him, and Gaga went on to explain that her fans are coming from "a place of love." Bell criticized Gaga for not apologizing and more so, not encouraging her fans to take the high road. "I couldn't believe she didn't take a second to address her fans and say how disgusted she was they'd do something like that."
The 27-year-old former Nickelodeon star of 'Drake & Josh' has since become a musician since leaving the network and has a new album titled 'Ready, Steady, Go!' due out on April 22.
