Here’s Your First Look at the ‘Friends’ Reunion
Update, 1/25: The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco shared a preview of the upcoming Friends reunion — or the closest we'll to get to an actual Friends reunion, anyway — in a photo from the taping of the special honoring TV director James Burrows.
"Ummmm, NIGHT MADE. Can't breathe," Cuoco wrote in the post, which shows the actress and BBT costars Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Simon Helberg. You can see the reunion for yourself on Sunday, February 21.
Deadline reports Matthew Perry, who's rehearsing for a play in London, wasn't able to attend the tribute to James Burrows. Still, he may record a segment for the special.
With Fuller House set to premiere in late February, and reboots of iconic cartoons Hey! Arnold and The Magic School Bus currently in development on Nickelodeon and Netflix, respectively, it seems that 2016 will be the year of even more remakes and reboots. Fans of Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica and Phoebe will be delighted to learn that Friends is no exception.
The cast, minus Perry —Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer—is scheduled to reunite for a two-hour special on NBC in February that "pays tribute to veteran sitcom director James Burrows, who recently helmed his 1,000th TV episode," TV Line reports.
Burrows hit the 1,000-episode mark this past November, when he directed an episode of NBC's midseason comedy Crowded. He also directed a total of 15 episodes for Friends over the course of its ten year run.
The two-hour special will also reunite casts from some of Burrows' other landmark series, including Taxi, Cheers, Frasier, and Will & Grace. Cast members from current Burrows series like The Big Bang Theory and Mike & Molly will also make an appearance.
Filming for the special is reported to begin later this month, with an air date scheduled for Sunday, February 21, at 9/8c. Will you be tuning in?
