If seeing is believing, the return of The X-Files is now officially a go.

will return as a six-episode miniseries, the network announced in March, and revive the supernatural fieldwork of FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. And whereas the duo's search for the paranormal meant routinely sifting through shadows during the show's original run, actress Gillian Anderson, who plays Scully,
tweeted a first look at the new and improved agent in plain sight...sort of.

Anderson posted the image above—which finds her outfitted with Scully's signature red locks—on Friday (June 5) with only two emojis as captions: An alien and a pair of lips (ET-romance on the horizon?!). A little vague, sure, but enduring fans knew it could only mean the show's resident MD was back in action. Let's just hope she can keep Mulder safe from encroaching alien hands this time around...

"The X-Files was not only a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture — yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning,” Fox executives Dana Walden and Gary Newman said in a statement in March. “We’re ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they’ve been waiting for."
