We Used the Google Arts & Culture App on Album Covers and the Results Are Museum Worthy
There's no denying the artistic quality of a great album cover.
From Katy Perry's frothy Teenage Dream (which is literally a work of art by painter Will Cotton) to Florence + the Machine's striking Ceremonials, a strong visual only helps to increase the emotional impact of a record's soundscape, as well as its memorability within our pop culture zeitgeist.
But how do pop album covers hold up against the famous classic works displayed within museums the world over?
We decided to find out by using the Google Arts & Culture app's delightful selfie face-match feature, which scans thousands of international works of arts held in museums across the globe to find one's painted, sketched or mozaicked (and at times horrifying) doppelganger.
Below, check out 15 pop albums alongside their fine art look-alikes courtesy of Google Arts & Culture.
