Iggy Pop Goes ‘Wild’ on Tonight’s ‘American Idol’

Iggy Pop is a rock 'n' roll legend and icon, without question. The shirtless, ageless wonder ripped through 'Real Wild Child' on tonight's episode of 'American Idol.' The 63-year-old dynamo still rocks a taut, toned six-pack and trim physique that isn't that much different from his hellion heyday. It's like he has mutated.

We hope the current crop of contestants were taking notes, mental or otherwise, because Iggy was a study in how to rock the night away. Rock 'n' roll knows no age, and while Iggy is probably as old as James Durbin's grandfather, he cannot, and will not, be stopped. He was greeted by a standing ovation upon closing his performance.

The producers of 'American Idol' did rock 'n' roll proud this week. While the show's premise is to produce pop stars who sing songs written by other people according to a very specific, time-tested formula, this week's performances were all high "rocktane" and allowed the performers to try something different and new!

We hope we rock as hard as Iggy Pop when we're this close to collecting social security checks.
