Katy Perry to Host ‘Saturday Night Live’ This December
Even though it was just reported that Katy Perry plans to take a year off to focus on starting a family with funnyman hubby Russell Brand, Perry's publicist revealed that she will be hosting the Dec. 10 episode of 'Saturday Night Live.' So Perry is not taking any sort of break before 2011 wraps.
Perry is hilarious -- just watch the 'T.G.I.F. (Last Friday Night)' video for evidence -- so she will no doubt hold her own as the sketch show's comedic relief. She can always ask Brand, a noted comedian and actor, for some tips on how to handle the tough live crowd.
It's not clear if Perry will also pull double duty and serve as the musical guest, as well. We're more psyched to see Perry handle hosting duties, anyways.
After playing upwards of 120 shows on the California Dreams tour, Perry is capping off an uber successful year with this plum gig. Hosting 'SNL' is no joke. Well, it's full of jokes, yes, but it's no joke in terms of being a résumé builder for a pop star's who are looking to expand their careers beyond music.
Will Perry reprise her role of Kathy Beth Terry from the 'T.G.I.F.' video? Will Brand show up for an unannounced cameo on the ep? There are so many possibilities, so be sure to tune in to your NBC affiliate on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 11:30 PM EST to see what tricks Katy Perry has up her sleeve.
