A memo to the media: Don't mess with Mrs. Russell Brand, aka Katy Perry! The pop star is suing NW, an Australian magazine, after the publication claimed that Perry (who is married to British comedian Russell Brand) had an affair with her producer Benny Blanco! What a scandalous claim for the magazine to make.

According to The Daily Mail, NW published a story claiming that Perry had an "intimate relationship" with Blanco, which thus jeopardized her new marriage. The article quoted Angela Summers, a reported "friend" of the 'E.T.' singer. A source named Marlon David was also referenced in the piece, so at least there are names for legal eagles to follow up with and on. However, Perry has said she does not know either of those people and that she was not present when Blanco mixed her No. 1 smash hit 'California Gurls,' which the story alleges.

Perry, who just touched down in Oz for the next leg over her world tour, was quick to file her claim against the mag and its publisher, ACP Magazines, in Melbourne.

Perry, 26, is seeking both damages and aggravated damages and if she wins, she could pocket six-figures!
Her suit alleges that "by reason of the publication of the article, the plaintiff (Perry) has been gravely injured in her reputation and feelings (and) has suffered distress, embarrassment and humiliation." Even worse, Perry also says that the magazine did not check the story or its "facts" with her or her people before publishing it and that they refuse to issue an apology, as well.

Perry and Brand were wed in India last October, in a traditional Hindu ceremony. Blanco has worked with several pop queens and Perry peers like Kesha and Britney Spears.
