If John Lennon was channeling Heaven when he wrote "Imagine," Lady Gaga proved to be his utopia's angel during a performance Friday night at the Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Gaga, who recently squashed a bit of infamous celebrity beef, appeared to take her more peaceful inclinations and run with them as the opener of the 2015 European Games (aka Baku 2015). Typically one for the dramatics, a stripped-down, dressed-in-white Gaga assumed a seat at an equally ivory piano and let the power of her natural tone do the talking.

In the video of the performance above, which was uploaded to Gaga's YouTube channel yesterday (June 15), she quietly croons through the tune's first few bars behind an amassing of fresh flowers. Camera flashes punctuate each bar and turn the venue into a jar of life-sized fireflies, and as Lennon's anthem of peace crescendos, so does the singer, until everything else around her falls silent.

"What an honor to have a few moments with the world watching. Could you imagine. What would you say?" Gaga tweeted before taking the stage. Rest assured, she made good use of the time.

The 2015 European Games are the competition's inaugural contests, and feature 6,000 athletes from 50 National Olympic Committees around Europe competing in 20 sports, including basketball, beach soccer and table tennis. The events will conclude on June 28.
