Liam Hemsworth Breaks His Silence After Miley Cyrus Split: ‘You Don’t Understand’
Liam Hemsworth has reportedly broken his silence following his split from Miley Cyrus.
Over the weekend, the longtime couple, who got married in December 2018, announced their separation after more than 10 years together. The Daily Mail reports the Hunger Games star spoke out for the first time since the news of his breakup with Cyrus made headlines and what he had to say is truly breaking all our hearts.
“You don’t understand what it’s like,” he said. “I don’t want to talk about it, mate.”
In photos published to the website, Hemsworth looks visibly sad as he walks around town and doesn't appear to be handling the split as well as the 26-year-old singer. The actor has been spending time with his old brother Chris Hemsworth in Australia as Cyrus is currently enjoying a vacation getaway in Italy.
Shortly after Cyrus' rep confirmed the couple's separation in a statement on Saturday (August 10), she was photographed kissing Kaitlynn Jenner, who is also newly single after announcing her split from Brody Jenner this month, on a boat in Lake Como. However, sources told People, the women are "just having fun" together.
Meanwhile, the "Mother's Daughter" hitmaker seemingly addressed her breakup via Instagram on Sunday (August 11), sharing a lengthy message about embracing change.
"Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win," the pop star wrote. "Like the mountain, I am standing on top of, which was once underwater, connected with Africa, change is inevitable."
According to E! News, Cyrus and Hemsworth have been "trying to make it work for months now but haven't felt they were connecting on the level they were feeling when they got married last year," with sources saying it's been a "rough year" for them.
"She has been ready to put out music and be back in the game touring and performing," the insider continued. "They really grew apart. Miley and Liam have still been communicating and it wasn't a messy split but they have decided they are at different points in their lives currently."
