No excuses, no hesitation — Meghan Trainor just performed her brand new single, "No Excuses," for the very first time live on The Ellen Degeneres Show Friday (March 2) and if it's any indication, her third studio album is primed to be a little bit sexy, a little bit beachy and just as fun as she's always been.

"Have you lost your mind? / Open up your eyes," Trainor pleads in the clip above with a fleet of background dancers dressed in white.

Trainor previously teased the single — which has since also spawned a music video — by saying it was the creative result of a tough year, during which she was subjected to relentless throat sickness and vocal surgeries. Still, she persisted.

"It was the darkest place I've ever experienced and I was unsure if I'd ever come out of it but I did!" she wrote triumphantly. "Myself, my health and my happiness became my complete and total focus...I regained control of my life and realized that there were no excuses for me to not work on myself and focus on what mattered most in my life."

Trainor also told People the song is a nod to the #MeToo movement.

"When I do look back — especially to when I was 18 and 19 in the industry, talking to older adults, mansplaining was very real, and it’s still real — you feel like you’re fighting for your word, fighting to show them you do know what you’re talking about," she said. "I finally reached a point where I needed to write a song about it...It just reminded me we need more respect in the world, and we need more respect for each other at every age."
