As if the latest incarnation of the British Invasion weren't at a fever pitch already. One Direction are taking the U.S. by storm once more: with a gig on 'Saturday Night Live' and a potential project with none other than --wait for it -- Justin Bieber!

One Direction will take the 'SNL' stage on April 7 with host Sofia Vergara. Even more exciting is the news of a potential collaboration with Bieber. Seriously, we're pretty sure half the teen girls in America spontaneously combusted just reading that.

STV reports that Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, sparked the talks of a project with the Canadian pop prince. When a fan asked Braun about Bieber working with the adorable Brits, Braun replied, "Very possible. He likes them and thinks they are good dudes."

Bieber isn't the only pop sensation eager to work with the 'X Factor U.K.' alumni. Tour mates Big Time Rush also have something planned with the 'One Thing' singers. BTR member Carlos Pena dished, "There's gonna be a special video coming out with us and 1D. I'm not sure if you saw the 'Call Me Maybe' video, but we're making one with a special song that I can't tell you about, but it's gonna be us and them," he said. "It's gonna be pretty crazy."

In other happy One Direction news, Zayn Malik has returned to their tour, making his first red -- er, orange -- carpet appearance this weekend at the premiere of Big Time Rush's 'Big Time Movie.' Malik left the U.S. leg temporarily to go back to the U.K. to be with his family following the death of his aunt. We're happy to have you back, Zayn!
