Sam Smith sat down with GQ magazine recently and gave a very candid interview. Topics ranged from he why chose a career in the music business ("Make music so you don't have to go to therapy or rehab.") to what he looks for in a relationship ("I want that excitement. I want something that's unobtainable.).

Something that really stood out were his comments on fellow pop star, Taylor Swift. Odds are good that if you're reading this right now, you're well aware of Taylor's reputation for being the nicest person on planet Earth. She's like the Dave Grohl of the pop world. So when Sam singled Taylor out as being one of the sole pop artists he really respects who's currently killing it in the industry, we have to admit -- we weren't too surprised.

He said, "Taylor Swift is amazing. I sang with her in London once but didn't get to properly chill with her. Then, at the American Music Awards, I got to sit down with her and chat. She's a role model. I really respect her. And she manages to sell a lot of records and make a lot of people happy financially, but also to keep that soulfulness, that honesty."

Considering the candor with which Sam tends to speak in interviews (just a question earlier he said, "I won't name names, but I will never act like some of the current pop stars have acted toward me."), we feel we have no choice to believe him.

Speaking of honesty, Sam goes on to condemn dating in the modern world. He says that the mystery of dating is lost when everything can be delivered with the swipe of a thumb, "I made a statement recently about how Grindr and Tinder and those dating apps are just killing romance. People are losing the ability to just walk up to people in a bar and say hello. Sex is on tap, isn't it, with apps like that? It may work for some people, but I miss the mystery. I find it much more sexy when someone's fully dressed in a suit and you've got to work to undress them."

What do you guys think? Do you agree with Sam's assessment of Taylor? Of Tinder? Let us know!
