Selena Gomez Says She Relates to the Haters

Selena Gomez opened up about her relationship with Justin Bieber during a recent interview with Z100. While all eyes (and paparazzi flash bulbs) are on the Gomez/Bieber pairing, it's the Beliebers who make life the most difficult for Gomez, spewing hate her way at every turn! But Gomez actually embraces the haters.

"It's hard," Gomez says about the haters, who often get vicious in their attacks of her for having won the heart of their hero. "It hurts, it really does. I don't feel like I'm doing anything wrong. I've been best friends with him for a very long time. It does hurt my feelings a lot but I try not to focus on it. I have a such a strong family and great fans."

The pair kept their relationship under wraps, but came out publicly at the Vanity Fair Oscar party.
Gomez likened the fact that she is the target of the ire of Bieber's fans to a situation she experienced herself when she was crushing on pop singer Jesse McCartney. McCartney was dating actress Katie Cassidy at the time, which caused Gomez to fume. She admitted, "I hated her -- absolutely hated her. I was mortified that he was with Katie and I wanted to be with him. He was my screen-saver!"
