Selena Gomez has a reputation for reaching out to her fans and being totally supportive of them. It's one of the many things we love about her. Earlier today, a fan reportedly expressed suicidal thoughts on her Instagram page, so Selena reached out to the fan by following them and writing out a long, encouraging message. Selena later reposted a screenshot of the comment to her page in an attempt to help out any fans who may be suffering from depression.

She wrote, "By me following you is [sic] not me saying it's ok to think these thoughts. It's not me saying 'hey you said sad things, so I'm going to follow you to make you feel better.' God puts us in situations that are so unexplainably difficult for a reason." She went on to say that there are other people out there who would be able to relate to her struggles, saying, "There is someone in the world feeling so much, just like you. There is someone who will always have it better or have it way worse than you. The point of all of that is for [you] to feel not alone. My point is, you are not alone in this world."

Selena went on to say that despite wanting to turn off emotions because they can sometimes cause us immense pain, people are here to help each other out. She said, "Your purpose is to share, help, encourage. Remember that. Please. Before you think of taking your life, think of all the life's [sic] you could save. I love you. More importantly there is a God that will love more than I ever could."
