According to AOL, outrage erupted recently after a passenger on a United Airlines flight tweeted a photo of a dog inside a pet carrier being left out on the rainy tarmac for a reported 30 minutes, despite passengers' alerting staff of the poor weather conditions. When singer Sia caught wind of the situation, she also took to Twitter to express her upset, saying she would no longer travel with United Airlines. She reposted the photo proof and wrote: "SHAME ON YOU!" then asking her followers to retweet.

You can check out the original photo of the dog left in rainy weather, as well as one of Sia's tweet below:

United Airlines did respond to the original poster's tweet, but it looks like their tweet only fueled the fire further, as some felt it was a nonchalant and cavalier response to a serious situation. You can check out their tweet below:

The airline later came out with a statement that says the dog was covered by the wing of the airplane and that what occurred was common practice for United (Quote via the Consumerist): "We checked several cameras and confirmed that our ramp employees in Houston never left the pet unattended after our PetSafe employees dropped the kennel off when we were ready to begin loading the aircraft for departure."

The statement went on to say: "As is our standard practice, our employees placed the pet kennel completely under the wing to protect the pet from the falling rain and onto the aircraft after completing the baggage loading.”

Many passengers have since expressed that they will be boycotting United Airlines in the future for the way they handled this situation.
