If there's one pop star who could never be described as "boring," it would be Lady Gaga. Simon Cowell did that just last week, but he now says he was "misquoted."

The 'X Factor' judge attracted a lot of attention when he said, "If you only ever heard Lady Gaga, she's the most boring singer in the world. You've got to see her — you need TV. Same with Beyonce. Or Katy Perry."

But Cowell's rep tells The Hollywood Reporter that he doesn't dislike Beyonce and Gaga. "It's the complete opposite, in fact," the rep says. "Simon is a massive fan of both and he always refers to them as amongst the artists he most admires. He thinks they are two of the most interesting, talented & relevant artists today."

Cowell did praise Beyonce in the original interview, calling her "the biggest star we've seen in 20 years." He also said of Gaga, "She's both talented and interesting. She's worked it all out for herself. You never get the feeling somebody is controlling her. Lady Gaga is the most relevant pop artist in the world at the moment. I've met her. She is very smart. I like her."

Cowell is apparently making a point about talent versus image, saying that the singers' voices are only a small part of their overall success. We agree with him to a point, but even a slight implication that Gaga, Beyonce and Perry are lacking in talent in some way seems a bit off-base.
