Drake, Rihanna and Zayn Top Spotify’s 2016 End of Year Streaming Charts
Spotify's #2016Wrapped is here, and the streaming statistics make one thing clear: Drake remains the King of Streaming.
The "One Dance" superstar is the most-streamed act on Spotify for a second year in a row according to the company, racking in a whopping 4.7 billion streams in 2016 — double that of 2015 (1.8 billion). And he didn't just snag the top spot as an artist, or the top spot with his album (Views is the most-streamed album): his "One Dance" is also the year's most-streamed song of 2016 — and also of all time. (!)
Joining him in the celebration? His "Work" partner, but of course! Queen Rihanna's reign refuses to let up with 2.5 billion streams in 2016, making her the most-streamed female this year. (Her ANTI song, "Needed Me," recently became her longest-running hit ever.)
More congratulations are in order across genres and for those rising artists, including newly solo One Direction star Zayn, who became the top breakout artist of 2016 following the release of his debut album, Mind of Mine.
