Did Jennifer Lopez Inspire Taylor Swift’s 1989 Tour Costumes?
Taylor Swift kicked off her 1989 tour in Tokyo earlier this month, and it’s a major production -- complete with grand video intros, a cameo from her cats Olivia and Meredith and an epic mashup of her Speak Now song, “Enchanted,” and 1989’s “Wildest Dreams.”
Based on what we have seen of the singer's tour costumes, we can safely say they're pretty glamorous, too...and perhaps, slightly inspired by Jennifer Lopez?
The Daily Mail certainly thinks so, and the photo evidence is compelling. During the Tokyo show, Swift rocked a glitter bodysuit that looked like a more conservative version of a costume J. Lo wore back in 2012. Of course, Taylor’s sparkling getup has also drawn comparisons to one of the looks worn by her BFF Karlie Kloss during the 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
However, the similarities don’t end there. Taylor also donned a green-fringed dress; a matching white crop top and shorts with knee-high boots; and a silvery, beaded leotard -- all of which are reminiscent of ensembles J. Lo has worn over the years. Check out side-by-side photos here and judge for yourself.
While Swift is in the very early stages of her tour in support of her latest full-length, she’s also gearing up for the debut of her next music video for “Bad Blood.” The forthcoming Sin City-esque clip -- which is slated to premiere at this weekend's Billboard Music Awards -- will boast a laundry list of the "Style" singer's closest famous friends, including Gigi Hadid, Ellie Goulding, Hailee Steinfeld, Lena Dunham, Kendrick Lamar and more.
