Katy Perry, on the other hand, is the master of optimistically catchy pop songs. Even she can see the upside of a relationship's end! In case this ex needs reminding, he and Taylor are never getting back together. Like, ever. T.Swift turned an on-and-off relationship into her formal entrance into pop music and has never looked back. With lyrics like,  "I'm really gonna miss you picking fights / And me falling for it screaming that I'm right," Taylor highlights an all-too-common indicator of an impending breakup. Hey, at least she got a hit song out of it, right?

You can knock Katy Perry down, but she'll get right back up. There's no doubt she's a fighter, so it makes sense that she channels famous boxers in 'Roar.' Katy hinted that the song was inspired by her breakup from John Mayer, and the lyrics suggest she didn't stand her ground in the relationship. Being single gave her clarity, as well as confidence, and you better believe she's learned from the past.
