Zayn Malik Drops Sultry New Single “Fingers”
Zayn Malik previously announced that his unscheduled and untitled sophomore album will come out this year, and on Thursday morning (Oct. 18), he shared a brand new track called "Fingers", giving fans another glimpse at what to expect from his awaited LP. This one is a sultry, soulful, R&B jam with an infectious beat.
In "Fingers," Malik sings about a love so intense that it he can't even write them a text, while trying to navigate his love interest's mixed signals. "'Cause I'm f-cked and I want ya, I can't even text ya/ Cause my fingers ain't working, but my heart is/If you wanna let me know where you hiding/I could come and love (I could come and love)," croons Malik.
On Wednesday (Oct. 17), Malik tweeted at Cardi B, saying he had a "sick tune" that she could jump in on. So does this mean that there might be another version coming out with her?
No word yet on that, but given Malik's list of previous A-list collaborators like Taylor Swift and Sia, it would make sense that Cardi B would be the next. This is his second single from the upcoming album, with each following a theme of a complicated relationship. He previously confirmed that his other recent single, "Let Me," is about his ex Gigi Hadid to Ryan Seacrest in On Air with Ryan Seacrest, so there's a chance that this could be his breakup record, following the culmination of his on-and-off relationship with the model.
Plus, when Malik announced this summer that the album was underway, he shared a cover of Beyoncé's ultimate breakup ballad "Me, Myself and I" off her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love.
With these new songs that show a new, vulnerable side of him, Malik is giving us plenty to look forward to.
