The past year has been an amazing year in music! So many of our favorite artists dropped albums, pushing the pop music envelope and giving us hit after hit. Choosing the Album of the Year is no easy feat -- but we know the fans can handle it! Need a recap of who released a full-length project last year? Check out the nominees below.

5 Seconds of Summer burst onto radio waves with their crazy-catchy 'She Looks So Perfect.' But the Aussies didn't stop there. They released a debut album filled with equally amazing tracks that range from pump-up jams ('Don't Stop') to tear-jerking ballads ('Amnesia').

Ariana Grande graced fans with new music on 'My Everything,' and a newly minted image. The combination is an unbeatable collection of new songs that continue to showcase her incredible vocals. Whether she was channeling retro vibes with 'Problem' or bringing the beat with 'Break Free,' Ariana made it clear that she's here to stay.

Ed Sheeran's 'X' was one of the most-anticipated albums of the year -- and for good reason. The Brit took his time writing the followup to '+,' but there's no question that the result was worth the wait. Ed successfully experimented with a new sound in 'Sing,' but continued to make our hearts melt with tracks like 'Thinking Out Loud.'

One Direction's 'Four has been in high circulation at the PopCrush office since its November release. The album tackles a hurdle that many artists cannot: shedding a youthful image in favor of a mature, still-authentic sound. Harry, Liam, Louis, Niall and Zayn sound better than ever on 'Four,' and, in true One Direction-style, leave fans wanting more.

Yes, Taylor Swift shattered records with her '1989,' but when you take away all of the album's accolades, you're left with a solid collection of songs. The 'Blank Space' singer may have officially left her country sound behind her, but her glitzy pop sound remains as genuine as ever.

Charli XCX, Cher Lloyd, Heffron Drive, Iggy Azalea, Jessie J, Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, Lana Del Rey, Maroon 5, Nick Jonas, Nicki Minaj, Sam Smith and the Vamps are also nominated. That's a lot of amazing music -- and all in one year!
