'American Idols Live!' kicked off its first tour stop with a bang. This past season's hopefuls opened their tour in Detroit and covered a little old tune you may have heard once or a twice: 'What Makes You Beautiful' by One Direction.

The budding stars did a pretty loyal cover of the original, with Joshua Ledet stealing a lot of the show. It's difficult to determine whether the audio in the clip isn't the best or if the gang actually has a case of "too many cooks spoiling the broth" -- only in this case, it'd be "too many singers spoiling the song." There's a lot going on here, and while everyone is indisputably talented, sometimes it's just too much.

The group is slightly better choreographed than 1D, who are notoriously and adorably goofy onstage, the vocals may have suffered slightly for it. But how super cute does Jessica Sanchez look hopping around?

Missing from this particular performance was the winner, Phillip Phillips, but Ledet more than made up for his absence. We love us some Phil, but to paraphrase the British heartthrobs, Ledet lights up the 'Idol' stage like nobody else.
