Ariana Grande made a triumphant return to the Billboard Music Awards stage tonight (Sunday, May 20), where she opened the show, treating viewers and fans to a joyful, ethereal performance of her uplifting comeback single, "No Tears Left to Cry."

The pop star descended upon the stage perched upon a cloud of black umbrellas, wearing a dainty black dress, big tulle bow, rhinestone choker, as well as her signature high ponytail and thigh-high black boots.

Grande—flanked by dancers posing with umbrellas—performed amid an abstract, pastel set inspired by the surreal art of M.C. Escher, windows and stairways and all, while projections of teardrops and umbrellas burst behind her. As she danced across the heavenly stage, Shawn Mendes, Taylor Swift and Camila Cabello sang along in the crowd.

The soulful singer ended her performance as the words "The Light Is Coming," believed to be the name of her next single, appeared behind her.

"No Tears Left to Cry" is off Sweetener, Grande's fourth studio album due out this summer.
