Best Pop Song of 2012 – Readers Poll
We've already asked readers to vote on their favorite pop star of 2012 and their favorite rapper of 2012, so it seems more than fitting to get some input on the Best Pop Song of 2012. We've gone through the biggest tracks of the year so far and have managed to whittle the list down to 25 songs that have been massive this year, whether or not they were released in 2012.
Carly Rae Jepsen has of course made the list for her summer smash hit 'Call Me Maybe,' which actually dropped in Sept. 2011, but is blowing up every chart in 2012. Justin Bieber has also made the cut for his swagged out single 'Boyfriend,' and Katy Perry comes in with her contemplative, love-gone-wrong track 'Wide Awake.' Boy band One Direction are still making fans sing along to 'What Makes You Beautiful' well into 2011, so they're also included in the poll, while Rihanna makes an appearance with her club banger 'Where Have You Been.'
Some indie pop hitmakers like Gotye and fun. are also on the list for their crossover hits 'Somebody That I Used to Know' and 'We Are Young,' respectively. There's also a few newcomers in our Best Pop Song of 2012 readers poll, including English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran and his captivating, forlorn track 'The A Team.' Rita Ora is another up-and-comer that's made the list with her feel-good breakout single 'How We Do (Party),' while spunky British songstress Cher Lloyd makes the poll with 'Want U Back.'
