Britney Spears’ Dad Jamie Spears’ Leg Amputated Following ‘Massive Infection’
Jamie Spears has reportedly had his leg amputated.
The 71-year-old father of pop superstar Britney Spears, with whom he has become estranged in recent years following the termination of a conservatorship agreement, which had given him control over his daughter's fortune and career, ended up "in a special infectious disease facility" in October after falling ill. Now, insiders have claimed that multiple surgeries were unsuccessful and he has had to lose his leg.
The insider told TMZ: "Jamie had a massive infection in one of his legs that landed him in a hospital for weeks. He had five unsuccessful surgeries to contain the infection, and doctors decided the only way to proceed was amputation."
The outlet went on to add that the "Lucky" hit-maker has "softened toward her dad recently" and has even talked about the idea of sending money to help him out.
Insiders also added that Jamie wants "nothing more than a reconciliation with his daughter, and harbors no ill will" toward her.
The news comes just days after the "...Baby One More Time" hit-maker celebrated her 42nd birthday with her mother Lynne Spears, with whom she had also become estranged over the last few years, as well as her elder brother Bryan.
A source said: "Being together and celebrating her birthday was a really nice moment for the family."
However, there was some drama at the party, as Britney was forced to leave early in order to rush her dog to the vet, according to TMZ.
Britney was then spotted dashing to a nearby gas station, in a picture obtained by the outlet.
Britney later returned to the veterinary clinic and took to Instagram to reassure her fans that Snow, her Maltese pooch, was fine.
She wrote: "Don't worry about Snow she's fine. I went to the emergency vet in the middle of the night with [friend and manager] Cade [Hudson]'s shoes and clothes in a hurry."
