There's nothing like springtime, really: birds remind us that they exist in the early morning, various creatures are born with increased frequency and we, here at PopCrush, kick off our annual Prom King and Queen poll. That's right, readers, you guys get the chance to vote for your fave male and female celebrity, crowning them with our prestigious, metaphorical crowns. Round 1 sees Demi Lovato facing off against Miley Cyrus, and it's up to you guys to vote your faves through to the next round.

Demi Lovato is a powerhouse vocalist with an incredible story. She's equal parts pop star and motivational speaker, and we love that she finds the time to reach out to her fans whenever the opportunity presents itself. It isn't often a celebrity is totally open about her past struggles, especially considering the judgmental climate that exists for those in the public sphere. But Demi uses her platform to help other people and she manages to release some seriously kickass pop music while she does it.

Miley Cyrus, on the other hand, was kind of born into celebrity. She went from having a famous father to being on a famous television show to breaking into music with an unmatched relentlessness. She switched up her genres from country to pop, totally changed her image and managed to hold her own -- though not without her fair share of controversy. She seems to truly want to make a difference in the world, though, and is also using her public platform for good instead of evil.
