Since releasing her self-titled debut album in 2017, Dua Lipa has become of pop music's biggest stars, earning nominations and awards at the BRIT Awards, NME Awards, Teen Choice, MTV Europe Music Awards and more. Now, with her debut project finally out, the "New Rules" singer is already looking ahead to her next album.

In a an interview with Rolling Stone, Lipa says she wants her next project to still be a pop record but she's also leaning toward a more soulful sound. "I want it to still be pop, but lean more toward soulful," she said. "My voice kind of lends itself to that genre."

According to the 22-year-old, she's been drawing inspiration from Prince's "Electric Chair," the new Francis and the Lights album and a lot of OutKast music. The singer has also been working with pop masterminds Mark Ronson and Max Martin.

"I spent a week with Max, and it was the first time where I felt like there was a lot more method to the things I was writing about," Lipa said. "First with him you lay down the melodies, listen to them over and over again, and say, 'Maybe we should change this note.'"

Lipa also revealed that Martin has a ton of new rules for her when it comes to creating music. "You couldn't use the same words too often, next to each other. And not everything can start on the one, because it doesn't keep it as interesting," she said. "I played him some of the stuff I did in Jamaica, and he'd say, 'You could totally simplify this. Just repeat that twice. Make it easier for the listener.' He has, like, a lot of rules and theories."

While there's no release date set for Lipa's next album, the "IDGAF" singer is gearing up for a North American tour. The 14-date trek kicks off on June 5 in Houston, Texas before the singer makes stops in Atlanta, Miami, Minneapolis and more. The summer tour wraps up on July 30 in Toronto, Canada.
