Joan Didion once wrote, “There is no real way to deal with everything we lose.” So it was for fans around the globe when Zayn Malik made the sudden (though unsurprising) decision to quit One Direction earlier this year in the middle of a world tour. And while it was a deep, heartbreaking loss for Directioners everywhere, Zayn unwittingly turned himself into a topical Halloween costume for 2015 by repeatedly making headlines world-wide.

But herein lies the problem with the former One Direction member: Zayn is a style chameleon, often transitioning from look to look with unfettered ease. He doesn't have one singular iconic outfit known to the masses, because he looks good in everything. Not even his hair remains the same for too long: He's styled it every which way possible, he's dyed it multiple colors and he's varied its length repeatedly over the years.
