Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Ain’t Your Mama’ Outlines Exactly What She Won’t Do For You
Jennifer Lopez finally dropped her long overdue single “Ain’t Your Mama” today (April 7), moments before performing the song live during tonight's finale of American Idol.
You can listen to the song exclusively on Apple Music or stream on Spotify below.
Lopez first revealed the news during a backstage Facebook Q&A session, where she told fans what to expect from her Idol performance, saying, "My performance on Thursday night is gonna be very high-energy. I’m also gonna be debuting a new song called 'Aint Your Mama.’"
Lopez then played a short clip of the percussion-heavy single, which Billboard reports was written by Meghan Trainor. “I ain’t gonna be cookin' all day / I ain’t your mama / I ain’t gonna do your laundry / I ain’t your mama, boy, I ain’t your mama,” she sings on the track, before ultimately cutting to the chase: "I'm not supposed to do that!"
"Ain't Your Mama" is Lopez's first non-soundtrack single since 2014's "Booty," off of A.K.A. Back in March, she inked a new deal with Epic Records.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Jennifer back home with me to Epic Records. Jennifer is a true global icon with a magnetism that sears across music, film, and TV and I'm excited to be working together again," said L.A. Reid of the contract.
